Acts 2 Communities

an alternative way to BE the church

What’s an Acts 2 Community?

When the early church began, followers of Jesus were given very clear instructions. Go to Jerusalem and wait there. They were simply encouraged to pray and seek God. In the beginning of Acts 2, Holy Spirit comes in power. His power was demonstrated in tongues of fire, speaking in different languages, boldness and clarity in Peter’s message, people crying out asking how they could be saved, and literally thousands of people putting their faith in Jesus on Day 1.

What followed was the beautiful description of the early church. The Acts 2 Community had nine rhythms of expression. There was teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, prayer, healing, generosity, gratitude, worship, and invitation.

So what is an Acts 2 Community? It’s a group of people who regularly gather to focus on living out the nine rhythms with Jesus at the head and empowered by the Holy Spirit. It’s the way Jesus followers all over the world practice their faith. It’s living out the simple and beautiful words of Acts 2:42-47.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
