What is the FISH Model?
F is for Freedom
Many people have tried and tried and tried to change habits or behaviors through their lives and have been told it’s about willpower, effort, or praying more. This can lead to failure, shame, and just giving up on Christianity. Sometimes, though, the issue is a spiritual issue, and the real need is to experience spiritual freedom. We can help with this.
I is for Identity
One of the most foundational elements of our faith is our identity in Christ. If we get this wrong, we’re tossed around by the various pulls of identity in our culture. We see this every day in the news and in culture. Getting the foundation of our identity in Christ and Christ alone is critically important for healthy, vibrant faith. We can help with this.
S is for Spirit
Too often we try through our own effort or willpower to bring transformation, and we end up failing over and over. Have you ever tried to be more patient? It often doesn’t work. That’s because patience and other virtues are fruit of the Spirit. We all can learn to be filled more and more with Holy Spirit in order to live fruitful lives. We can help with this.
H is for Heart-Focused Community
We were never meant to live out our faith on our own. Although faith in Christ is highly personal, it is definitely not private. We were made for relationships, and a healthy heart focused community can help us flourish in faith. Growing attachment to God and others is possible and essential. We can help with this.
